GOLDMARK Collects Nearly 2,000 Baby Food Donations

In early January, there were 70 women and children residing at the YWCA Emergency Shelter in Fargo. Of those, 42 were children, and 15 were under the age of 2 years old.

Due to a large amount of children in the Shelter and their participation in the offered daycare services, the Shelter was running critically low on baby food. So low, in fact, the YWCA reached out to us at GOLDMARK, a long standing partner, to help in a time of desperate need.

We responded by contacting all of our Fargo Region Team Members and the Fargo Residents requesting their assistance in collecting baby food of all kinds. Within 24 hours, we had collected over 250 items from our generous team members, residents, and other community members.

Word spread throughout the Fargo-Moorhead area by word of mouth, Facebook posts, and even locally aired news stories from KVRR and WDAY.

In a week’s time, we collected 1,980 baby food items!

Other businesses such as Pro-Rehab Physical & Occupational Therapy joined in our efforts, adding an additional 82 items to our total numbers.

We are in awe of how thoughtful and generous our community is. A heartfelt 'thank you' goes out to everyone who donated, spread the word, and gave in many ways to the YWCA in their time of need.

Even though our drive is over, the YWCA is always accepting donations. Visit their website to view their most critical needs list.

We look forward to continually working with the YWCA in their efforts to break the cycle of poverty in our area.
