Flexible Payments

Flexible Rent Payments with Flex

Goldmark now offers Flex, a service that allows eligible residents to split their monthly rent into two smaller, more manageable payments. Flex is designed to give you more control over your month-to-month budget and help reduce financial stress.

With Flex, you can schedule your rent payments in a way that better aligns with your income directly through your Rent Café resident portal.

What is Flex?

Flex is a rent payment service that lets you split your monthly rent into two payments instead of paying the full amount at once. By spreading your rent payments out, you can better manage your cash flow and budget throughout the month.

Flex works directly within your Rent Café portal, where you can easily sign up, view your schedule, and make payments.

How Flex Works

Sign Up Through Rent Café

During your rent payment process, you’ll see an option to enroll in Flex. Simply choose Flex when paying rent in your Rent Café portal. To use Flex for the current month, approval must occur by 5:00 p.m. ET on the 4th. Signups after that apply to the following month.

Split Your Rent

Once approved, Flex divides your rent into two payments. You choose the schedule that works for you based on your financial needs. The first half must be paid at sign-up, with a soft credit check.

Make Payments Online

Payments are made directly through the portal using your debit or credit card. You can adjust your chosen payment dates as long as changes are made at least one business day in advance.

End of Month Requirements

To continue using Flex, your balance must be paid in full by 11:59 p.m ET on the last day of the month.

Benefits for Residents

More Control Over Your Budget

Splitting rent into two payments helps reduce the pressure of paying one large amount at the start of the month.

Improved Monthly Cash Flow

By choosing when your payments occur, you can better align rent with paychecks and other expenses.

Simple, Self Serve Enrollment

Flex uses a straightforward signup process through your RentCafe portal, without extra steps or paperwork.

Potential to Build Credit

Flex may report positive payment history to major credit bureaus, helping you build or improve credit simply by paying on time.

Fully Digital Experience

Everything—from signup to scheduling to payments—is handled online.

Avoid Late Fees

With Flex, residents can choose when to pay the full rent amount back to Flex on a schedule that works best for you.

Cost

Flex charges a monthly membership fee based on your approved credit line. This includes:

  • A $5.99 monthly membership fee. The monthly membership fee continues to provide access to Flex, rent splitting, and monthly positive rent reporting.
  • 0% APR, no interest, and no late or penalty fees
  • A 0.5% processing fee based on your total rent
  • Additional card processing fees if you choose to pay with a credit card
  • Variable Split Fee: Now based on how much residents borrow for their 2nd payment, a fee of up to 3% is charged only when a resident splits their rent with Flex.

Eligibility

To qualify for Flex, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • 0% APR, no interest, and no late or penalty fees
  • Apply and qualify for a Flex credit line, evaluated through your credit report, payment history, and other factors
  • Have a debit or credit card to make payments

Credit lines are issued by Lead Bank at 0% APR. Flex is a financial technology company and not a bank.

Changing or Canceling Your Flex Membership

Flex is optional and can be paused at any time, for as long as you want. However, once you cancel, you can't go back. You can make changes or cancel directly through the Flex app, or contact support:

  • help@getflex.com
  • 0% APR, no interest, and no late or penalty fees
  • help.getflex.com (ticket submission)
  • Flex’s live chat on their website

Note: Residents can sign up for Flex after the 1st of the month, but signing up or making their first payment after the 1st will still incur a late fee, which will be collected by Goldmark, not Flex.

A Flexible Way to Pay Rent

Flex is designed to help you stay on top of your finances by giving you more choice in how you pay rent each month. Whether splitting payments helps you manage expenses, smooth out cash flow, or stay more organized with your budget, Flex offers a straightforward and convenient option that fits your needs.
