Each year, GOLDMARK sends Fargo team members to assist Lake Agassiz Habitat for Humanity in their mission of bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope.

Habitat for Humanity is a unique organization in fact that the homes are not free to the recipient. The individual who is awarded the home goes through a vigorous application process and then once selected purchases the home from Habitat for Humanity for the cost of materials. The recipient is required to attend homeowner's classes in addition to the 250 hours of "sweat equity" they put in on building their own home, other Habitat builds, or working in the ReStore.

This summer, we sent volunteers on two separate days to help build a home in West Fargo, ND for a single mom currently living in a run down trailer with her 4 kids.

In June, 15 team members helped with framing the home and other tasks that needed to be completed before the family of 5 can move in this fall.

In August, 6 team members helped install siding and soffit as well as flooring in the new home.

In addition to giving our time volunteering, GOLDMARK also donated $2,500 to help support financially. This contribution will be spent purchasing construction materials.

Team members are always anxious to get back in the community to help build homes and hope for families who need it the most.

We can’t wait until next year’s blitz build. From start to finish, 3 new homes will be constructed in just 10 days with the help of hundreds of area volunteers!
