The benefits of practicing gratitude are nearly endless! People who regularly practice gratitude by taking time to notice and reflect upon the people and things they’re thankful for experience more positive emotions, feel more alive, sleep better, express more compassion and kindness, and even have stronger immune systems!
Additionally, research shows that regular gratitude practices even changes the way our brains function. A recent research study found that simply expressing gratitude may have long lasting effects on the brain!
To get people thinking and practicing their acts of gratitude, we started a month long Attitude of Gratitude Challenge.
Each week, team members filled out a tracker with 3 things they are grateful for and a weekly focus reflection. At the end of each week, there were bonus challenges like random acts of kindness, thanking someone, and sharing how we’ll practice gratitude beyond the challenge going forward. Each bonus completed earned team members an entry into a drawing for fun gratitude prizes!
At the conclusion of the 4 week challenge, team members emailed their gratitude tracker for an entry into the grand prize drawing for gift cards to a local charity on Giving Hearts Day!
There 5 grand prize drawing winners were:
- Tara B, Business Support Specialist
- Mary S, Director of Innovation and Field Support
- Amanda Voelkel, Leasing Specialist
- Melissa Baker, Maintenance Manager
- Samantha Christle, Assistant Site Manager
Our next wellness challenge will start in March!
