Goldmark Property Management’s Grand Forks team recently hosted its first-ever "Fun in the Sun" resident event, bringing together more than 100 residents for a fun afternoon of community connection and summer celebration. Held at the Grand Forks regional office, the event was designed to show appreciation for residents while fostering a sense of belonging across the apartment communities in the area.

From the moment residents arrived, they were welcomed with a variety of family-friendly activities and summer treats. Highlights included:

  • Bubble stations and face painting for kids of all ages
  • An interactive scavenger hunt and outdoor games
  • A cotton candy station, ice cream bar, and refreshing lemonade stand
  • Delicious food served throughout the day to help everyone beat the heat

The event was more than just a summer gathering—it was a chance for neighbors to connect, have fun, and make lasting memories. One standout moment came as a young resident was leaving the clubhouse and cheerfully told his mom, “I love the office!”—a touching reminder of the impact small gestures can make.

Thank you and congratulations to the Grand Forks teams for going above and beyond to create such a memorable resident experience. We look forward to making this an annual tradition and continuing to build strong, connected communities across our properties.

Through fiscal and volunteer support, Goldmark actively contributes to several regional and national organizations which help to enrich the lives of those in our communities. On June 7th, members of our Payable Team visited Hope Blooms in Fargo, ND to volunteer. The team assembled flower bouquets of various sizes and colors, and enjoyed being able to use their creative side outside of the office.

The Goldmark Payable team includes Lilibeth Stroik, Lorri Jensen, Rikki Fugleberg, Shelby Platfers, and Annie Dafforn.

Hope Blooms uses repurposed flowers to create bouquets that are donated to individuals in hospice care, nursing homes, long-term care facilities and assisted living, memory care centers, shelters, women and families in need, and individuals facing difficult times. These bouquets are given to provide a sense of inclusion and to let individuals know that they belong, they are important, and they matter. Visit the Hope Blooms website to learn more about this great organization and how you can get involved.

Goldmark is committed to each of the communities in which we serve through fiscal and volunteer support. We contributed to several regional organizations which help to enrich the lives of those in our communities. In December 2021, Goldmark donated funds as well as critical needs to multiple organizations that serve a variety of individuals in-need.

The annual Goldmark Giving Tree event is held in each of our regions to support organizations that assist individuals by providing critical needs. From hats and mittens to household cleaning supplies and food, Goldmark residents, team members, and vendors donated over 6,500 items. In Fargo, donation recipients included F5 Project, Presentation Partners in Housing, SENDCAA, YWCA, and Community Uplift Program. In Bismarck, we partnered with the Abused Adult Resource Center. Grand Forks and Crookston partnered with the United Way of Grand Forks. Sharing & Caring Hands received donations in Minneapolis. Omaha donations were given to Open Door Mission.

"The best part about Goldmark’s Giving Tree for us at Presentation Partners in Housing was being able to give every single person in our program a Christmas gift! We all felt like little elves delivering the baskets to our participants. They were so excited and grateful. Someone picked up the dish soap and said, 'Oh my goodness. You don’t know how much I need this right now.' Another person, when looking through their basket, said, 'I’ve been out of a lot of this stuff all month trying to make sure my family gets Christmas presents. This is such a huge help.'"
– Beth, PPiH

"I think the best part of the Giving Tree was seeing the energy that came from the Goldmark team in all of these donations and getting our bare shelves restocked! I can’t tell you how close I was to tears when the team came ready to haul and just kept bringing more and more things! Speaks greatly to the dedication to help those in need and was so meaningful to us!"
– Sarah, SENDCAA</p

"Honestly EVERYTHING that was donated in the giving tree donation has already been put to use with participants. It was great to get a wide range of items from household things to personal care items. Seeing the look on the individuals faces when they received some of those things was great. Thanks to you all at Goldmark!"
– Thane and Lenard, F5 Project

Financial hardship is something many struggle with. Not only is it stigmatized, but people try to hide it from friends and even family. We’d like to thank all Goldmark residents, team members, and vendors for all you gave to the Giving Tree. Thank you for helping us support our communities!

In addition to the items donated through The Giving Tree, Goldmark donated funds to several other great organizations who are making an important impact in our communities. Recipients included Homeward Animal Shelter, Miles of Love Dog Rescure, Hope Blooms, MN Strong, and People Serving People.

Grand Forks site offices collected a over thirty grocery bags filled with food during the Sunshine September Food Drive which ended on October 2nd to support Altru’s Sunshine Hospitality home.

One of our residents, Emily Gibbens-Buteau, is the Generosity Coordinator at Altru Health Foundation. When she brought up the food drive idea to Jason Anderson, her Property Manager at Columbia West, it was an easy yes. Jason knows the Sunshine Hospitality Home provides a huge benefit to those in need in the community as well as surrounding areas when visiting Altru. "I personally know the great family that started the Sunshine Memorial Foundation in honor of Shannon Larson and this house was built with love."

Approximately 24 residents across Grand Forks participated in this food drive in addition to our Goldmark team members.

"I think this event went well and we donated a good amount of essential needs for the house. I'd like to continue to partner up with Altru in the future to make this an annual event."
Jason Anderson, Property Manager at Columbia West Apartment Community

Thank you to Emily Gibbens-Buteau, Columbia West resident and Generosity Coordinator at Altru Health Foundation, as well as Property Manager Jason Anderson for helping execute this donation drive.

The Sunshine Memorial Foundation is a North Dakota non-profit that was established by Van and Dee Larson in memory and in honor of their daughter, Shannon “Sunshine” Larson, who passed away in 2007 at the age of 31 from heat stroke while she was hiking in Arizona. The purpose of the foundation is to raise money for charitable programs promoting Shannon’s attitude of helping others. The Sunshine Hospitality Home is an extension of this foundation to help those with critical illnesses, diseases, and injuries who must travel to fulfill their healthcare needs.
