Volunteers Participate in Food Bank Packathon

Did you know the Great Plains Food Banks serves over 97,000 people each year throughout North Dakota and the Red River Valley? Half of those served are seniors or children.  The Great Plains Food Bank relies on volunteers to assist in packaging food for distrubtion across the state to local food pantries, mobile distribution trucks, and pop up sites.

As part of Hunger Action Month, twelve Goldmark team members spent an hour packing food today for a mobile pop up distribution event happening next week in Cass and Clay counties. Our team joined forces with a team from Cornerstone Bank.  Together we packaged 8,046 pounds of food, equivalant to 6,705 meals.  If feeding a family of 4, that would be enough food for 559 days!  What an impact!
